Go girl! I’m a 71 year old grandmother and built of sterner stuff than the snowflakes. I appreciate your humour, wit and dexterity with language - you’re too good for Twitter.

Just jumped onto here after reading your Mail article. Spot on Julie ! As you say , they've done you a favour. Where I work is soaked in "wokery" and it drives me round the bend ! I recently made the mistake of speaking a few home truths on social media and was immediately told by "the management" to take it down. When I asked why I was told in an obscure fashion "it wouldn't end well". I would dearly love to tell them "where to shove it " and walk away but I only have 2 years left till retirement......so I'm hoping I can bite my lip and hold it in for another 24 months ! Loved your take on all this and looking forward to reading more from "our" naughty step !

Having retired some time ago I was going to give vent to my feelings online but was advised, very firmly, by my son I would be courting vindictive behaviour by the wokerati and would probably be “cancelled”. I applaud Julie Burchill for her pungent, entertaining and brave writing.

Update....apparently me taking down my home truths on social media and getting told off was not sufficient for some "offended " individuals at my work. I now find I'm in for a disciplinary which will probably mean me jumping through a few pointless hoops for their amusement and maybe a bit of pro company grovelling thrown in. After 48 years of grafting its come to this. PLEASE LET ME WIN THE LOTTERY THIS WEEK !

I am dying to tell them to shove it .......but can't afford it......aaaaargh !

Bravo! I’d stand at the barricades with you Julie, defending commonsense against the snowflakes and wokerati. Looking forward to your new book.

We must be allowed to question, satirise and be honest not be censored, provided there’s no incitement to provoke hate.. but we are being forbidden even to debate, question or laugh at the ridiculousness of the “I’m offended” brigade for fear of retribution from this so called cancel culture .. “we’re all doomed” said with humour ....

You say what we are all thinking but can't afford to get the sack!

You say everything I feel, eloquently with the sting of truth every time!

This is a shifting and scary era - we need voices like yours, many loud voices of reason, before we loose 300 years of educated society's evolution and progress! Control via wokism and cancel culture is very dark, dangerous and certainly not for the good of the majority! Life was fun once and free.......

Can someone bang on the door of the MoS editor and tell him to get Julie signed up fgs? Because I'm too old for this wondering around websites trying to fathom out what I need to join/subcribe/sign up to malarkey.

And me. We need more Julie B. Don't know what's come over me. Never been a twitterer, or anything else, but JB getting sacked for saying what many are thinking is just awful. Good on you and good luck Julie

Me too!! I have never felt strongly enough to get this far before !! However I am still an advocate for real freedom of speech, thought & expression not to mention humour all of which Julie does far more eloquently than me. How dare people try & silence her !!

What is it about this woman!! Started reading her in an old magazine called New Society in the 80’s ( during my Sociology A level days) and she’s been popping up, periodically ever since, even as I change from paper to paper. Now I’m f(£&))(g subscribing to her, maybe I’ll have to admit to being a fanboy!
